Biosecurity Notice on the Importation of Animal Products

The Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF) has reviewed the import requirements for the importation of shelfstable condensed and evaporated milk products from selected countries into Fiji for personal and commercial use. All importers must meet the import requirements when importing condensed and evaporated milk products from the countries listed below. Otherwise specifically advised by BAF, the restrictions will remain for the importation of other dairy products from all the countries into Fiji.
Shelf-stable food is food that is processed in a manner that can be safely stored at room temperature in a sealed container or packaging. This includes foods that would normallybe stored on shelves at room or ambient temperature for a usefully long shelf life and are refrigerated after opening the sealed container or packaging.

The condensed and evaporated milk products that are manufactured in the above-listed countries using dairy ingredients, either locally produced or officially imported raw dairy ingredients, can be imported directly from an above-listed country meeting Fiji’s import requirements. Any dairy ingredients used in the finished products must be sourced, produced, and imported from a country that is free from foot and mouth disease (FMD) and lumpy skin disease (LSD).
The condensed and evaporated milk products that are manufactured in the above-listed countries using dairy ingredients, either locally produced or officially imported raw dairy ingredients, can be imported directly from an above-listed country meeting Fiji’s import requirements. Any dairy ingredients used in the finished products must be sourced, produced, and imported from a country that is free from foot and mouth disease (FMD) and lumpy skin disease (LSD).
Personal Importation An import permit is not required when importing shelf-stable Condensed and Evaporated Milk products directly from the above-listed countries into Fiji for personal use and must meet the General import requirements highlighted below. Additionally, shelf-stable Condensed and Evaporated Milk can be imported indirectly from a third country listed above without an import permit and meeting Fiji’s import requirements stipulated on this Biosecurity notice (i.e. Manufactured in a country (e.g. United States of America) listed above and officially imported into another country (e.g. United Kingdom) listed above and then export from the said country (United Kingdom) listed above into Fiji)
