Health Certificate for Export of Food Products

To obtain an Export Health Certificate for foodstuffs from Fiji, exporters must apply to the Food Unit within the Ministry of Health and Medical Services. The process typically includes submitting an application along with supporting documents, such as details of the food’s origin, processing, and packaging. The Food Unit will inspect and, if necessary, test the products to ensure they meet both Fijian and the destination country's regulations. The certificate is required for a variety of food products and is necessary for the goods to be cleared for international shipping. Exporters should allow sufficient time for the application and approval process to avoid delays in their shipments.

Procedure Steps
Step 1: Submit the Application

The process for obtaining an export Health certificate for food products involves submitting a completed application to the Food Unit. An exporter can obtain the application either in person or via email and must submit it back to the Food Unit through the same methods.

Step 2: Review of Application

The Food Unit will process the application within 3-5 business days and send a technical recommendation to the Central Board of Health for approval.

Step 3: Collect the Health Certificate

Once the review process is complete, if the application is approved, the Certificate can be collected in person or by email; if additional documents are needed or the application is rejected, the trader will be informed.
